Old Tunage

I love it when you find a song that you haven't heard for ages and it brings back good memories of forgotten good times. It's been the silver lining on an otherwise pretty pants day.

Pessimism - Every dark cloud has a silver lining, but lightning kills hundreds of people each year who are trying to find it.

Today is the day of quotes I think. Got another longer one which pretty much sums up my day...

If one person tells you that you have a tail, then you can usually ignore it. If two people tell you that you have a tail, then you might begin to wonder a little bit. And if three people tell you that you have a tail and one of those people is someone who loves you and knows you well, then you had better go home, pull down your pants, and check your ass in the mirror.

Mind you, I did manage to get hold of four tickets to the BB11 eviction next week. Looks like the crazy gang are off on a road trip, and we need to put some thought into our banners! I will write more about this later when I am a little more excited than I am right now...

I still can't effing sleep and it is doing my swede in now! AAAAAHHHHHH! I know I don't really like sleeping but it is a necessity and insomnia isn't something else I want to suffer too. I shall try my hardest to catch some zzzzz.

Dream happy dreams, toodles.

Orgasmic Headphones

Now I do love my music. I have this old type cd player which came with software so you could squish over 200 songs onto one cd. I don't have the software anymore but I found one of the cds I made about 6 years ago and there is some cracking tunes on there. I have some cheap in ear headphones which worked but I kind of busted one of them, plugging them into the tv at full volume... oops my bad lol.

However today I thought I would treat myself to some more expensive ones and branded this time too. I got them home, opened them up and looked in horror at the size of the stereo plug. I spent about 30 mins searching the internet before nearly giving up and reaching for the instruction booklet. Ok, maybe that should have been my first port of call, but come on, instructions for headphones? It's not exactly brain science! Anyway, I read that the big doofer came off and revealed a smaller, perfect shaped one for both the laptop and my cd player.

I thought, I have to pick a good song to try these bad boys out, so I chose Vienna - Ultravox. Turned the volume up and the bass and sat back in anticipation. Dum dum dum-dum... It's incredible, completely orgasmic, filling my head with every single part of the tune so that I can close my eyes and it is as if I am in the music itself. I feel like I have died and gone to heaven...

I am in love...

...WITH A CAR! The Bugatti Veyron Supersport to be specific. It is a beautiful piece of machinery despite the fact it costs over £1.5m and a set of tyres cost £20,000. I am pretty sure we would have a very long and happy relationship.

We all think at some point what we would do if we won the lottery... My first purchase would be THAT car. Yes, it's selfish and a large quantity of my winnings would vanish very quickly but come on, if you had the chance, wouldn't you? If money weren't an issue? I LOVE IT!

Classical Music

Now, I have do have a varied music taste but I have never really got classical music... until tonight that is. I don't really understand how a piece of music without words, can move you more than a song with words. I always listen to music for the lyrics primarily but with classical music there isn't any. I don't get it.

I'm amazed by how many pieces I recognised, but if anyone had asked me what they were called, I wouldn't have a clue. Like the music that is played in X Factor, you could clearly hear the pin drop when I heard that one lol.

I suppose if you include opera in there, then I am already a big fan as I LOVE Il Divo and Nessun Dorma gives me goosebumps. It's such a powerful piece of music and I don't care what anyone says, no one can sing it better than the man himself, Pavarotti. I was so lucky to see him live before he died. You could almost hear the crowd holding their breath as he reached the crescendo.

I still don't really get it though, how can classical music affect someone so deeply it moves them to tears? Maybe this is just something that I will learn in time, as I get older possibly. Don't get me wrong, I will have a good cry when I hear some music, but that is either due to the lyrics or the fact that the song is attached to a memory.

Well, I suppose I had better try to get some shut eye even though me and sleep don't seem to have the best working relationship at the moment. I do think we waste so much time sleeping though. Just think of how many hours of your life you have lost by sleeping? If there was some way my body could survive without sleep then I would be the first to sign up for the clinical trial for that one. I love stars too much and it makes me smile to think that all the people I care about, whether they are still with us or not, have looked up into the sky and seen the same stars.

"When we look up at the sky, we are trying to find the way back to ourselves. All the stars and galaxies in the universe are made of the same substance. Parts of it have lumped themselves together, some here, some there. There can be billions of light years between one galaxy and the next. But they all have the same origin. All stars and all planets belong to the same family… we too are stardust." Jostein Gaarder - Sophie's World

Fudge Ice Lollies

Ok, this is about as exciting as my life gets... I have just been to the supermarket to get something scrummy for my tea and discovered they do Fudge Ice Creams! As in the fudge bars I loved when I was a kid. Now there is a treat for little me!

They do Caramac ones too but I was never a great fan to be honest. I can remember always having a Crunch chocolate bar after I had been swimming when I was lickle. I think they should have a shop where they sell all the childhood sweets, even the ones they don't make anymore. That would be amazing. And they could sell all the other yummy stuff like Lucky Charms lol.

What is it they say about little things please little minds? Well, I think you should enjoy the small pleasures in life otherwise you sit there waiting for something big to happen and you miss all the small smiles that you could have had. Like splashing in puddles in the rain, the feeling of getting into a freshly made bed, making someone smile, the smell of bacon (mmmm), walking through crunchy leaves in autumn, making fresh footprints in the snow and laughing when no one else is around. Small pleasures make life complete.

My First Blog Post EVER... dun dun dah!

Well here goes nothing... to be perfectly honest I have absolutely no idea what sort of stuff to say on here, but that makes it all the more fun. There might be a few ramblings about tv shows, music, films, current affairs... I would like to say politics and sound intellectual but I would be lying!

I do have a habit of changing the subject every so often and going of on a bit of a tangent so I apologise in advance for this.

Why is it when you sit down to do something, take a bit of time out for yourself and chillax, does the dog (I am dog/house sitting for my friend at the moment) come and lay their head on your knee, gaze deeply into your eyes as if to say, "Isn't it lunch time now?" They are correct so I shall return promptly. Toodles. x
